The NorD system – durable and safe solutions for ports and bridges
The NorD system is based on highly durable, modular concrete pontoons that are flexibly connected. These floating structures can be used to build various waterway applications, but they are most employed in port and bridge projects.
Basic information about the NorD pontoon:
- Block dimensions are approximately 10 x 5 x 2 meters.
- The loading capacity of one pontoon is approximately 40 tons.
- Mass is approximately 46 tons per pontoon.
- The pontoons can be transported via roads or waterways.
- The NorD pontoon is unsinkable and resistant to extreme external forces.
Safety plays a central focus in the design of NorD-based ports and bridges. Structures made with NorD elements are engineered and tested to perform reliably even under the harshest marine conditions.
NorD ports – any size, any purpose
NorD concrete pontoons offer excellent load-bearing capacity. Harbor docks can be designed for large vessels and heavy-duty loading operations. The driving ramps can be dimensioned to support loads up to 42 tons (or 76 tons for vehicle combination).
Ports built from elements can be constructed quickly, even in a few weeks, if necessary. Their size and layout can be modified at any time. In addiction dock elements can easily be relocated to a new site.
Functionality and safety are top priorities in NorD port design. The port is complemented by numerous components and additional equipment. In addition to pontoon elements, a wide range of important port equipment is available directly from stock: ramps, bollards, safety equipment, joint kits with fixing devices etc.
NorD bridges – when rapid deployment is crucial
The NorD bridge is ideal for both permanent and temporary use. A bridge can be built quickly, as the necessary elements and components are available from stock or be repurposed from another existing NorD structure, such as a marina nearby.
Due to the excellent load-bearing capacity of the NorD concrete elements, floating pontoon bridges can be designed to support even the heaviest vehicles. Bridges built with interconnected NorD elements have been tested to endure extreme marine conditions. Their operational safety has been thoroughly considered in every stage of design and implementation.
